4 2 Restore, LLC

Dear Dr. Martin and Ms. Rhonda,

I am incredibly grateful for everything I’ve had the opportunity to work on here at 4 2 Restore. My life is no longer something I’m willing to take lightly or play games with. When I was seven years old, God told me He had big plans for my life and to never give up. Because of that, I’ve never quit on anything I’ve set my mind to. One of the greatest lessons my father taught me was to always keep my word.

God took my right leg, but when I was 19 and sitting in a jail cell, He told me He was going to bless my hands. That’s when He gave me the gift of art, and I became a barber. There’s a difference between people who cut hair and true barbers—and I’m a barber at heart. This is my calling. I’m excited to go to the shop tomorrow and talk with my boss to let him know I’m ready to start back.

I’m sharing all of this because I know that if I hadn’t changed the direction my life was headed, I would have died. Ms. Rhonda may be tough and, at times, very direct, but she has helped me more in six months than anyone has in the last 15 years of my attempts to get clean. The only thing I would change about my experience is how I sometimes reacted to Ms. Rhonda when she was only trying to help me. I didn’t understand then—but now I do. She is heaven-sent, and I pray others can see her the way I do.  Mad respect.

Ry’nn is exactly what the house needed. He is a great fit and does an excellent job. Speaking firsthand, R. Spencer is a true blessing to the men at 4 2 Restore. He has a contagious spirit and a natural way with the guys, especially the new ones. He has a solid routine and doesn’t let anyone take advantage. We’ve become good friends, and I’m truly grateful for that.

I’m writing this because I’m leaving the program house, and I wanted to share my takeaway from the program. I know I’ve made mistakes here—things I’m not proud of—but I’ve worked to learn from every experience. I want you, Ms. Rhonda, Ry’nn, D, MaLeah, Dr. Malone, Kenny, and the entire staff to know that I am forever thankful.
